How We Help

Charity in Huehuetenango

The Spanish School of Xinabajul, founded in 1992, has had the objective of being a social vision. Since its conception, the school has worked to have foreign students participate in social programs including economic support and volunteer work. The volunteer work gives underprivileged children a chance for personal progress through education. The majority of students that attend the Spanish School of Xinabajul are conscious of the necessity that exists in countries like Guatemala for supporting underprivileged children. It motivates them to contribute financial aid to children or to social organizations that exist here in our region. Thanks to the financial help and volunteer work that we receive, many people are benefiting productively especially in the area of education. The projects in which you have direct participation include:

  • Economic support and volunteer work at the orphanage found here in the city of Huehuetenango.
  • Financial support and volunteer work in the construction of various schools in rural areas surrounding Huehuetenango.
  • Scholarship Program for students in rural and urban areas to allow them to continue schooling beyond the sixth grade, focusing especially on girls.
  • Donation of school supplies to students and teachers in different rural areas.
  • Volunteer work of foreign students who teach skills to children and women in rural areas.
  • Economic support and donation of equipment to the disabled and those with low economic resources.
  • In the year 2009, we undertake the construction of a clinic for handicapped children.

The school participates in these programs because unfortunately the government does not give this support. The government does not have the capacity to build schools in every location where they are needed. Nor do they provide scholarships to the many children who lack resources to travel to areas where there are schools. In addition, the government is not able to provide support to orphanages.
