María Eugenia Domínguez
I like my job, and enjoy talking slowly
and correcting the
students. I have a lot of patience and I speak clearly to my students.
Our education system advances from simple to more complicated
(vocabulary, present tense to subjunctive). I like to vary my classes:
diagnosis, conversation, teaching content, written exercises for each
subject, reading, repetition and correction of every word the student
has said. With me, the student decides how he or she wants to study and
I adapt to meet the students needs. I have extensive experience and
knowledge of the rules of the English language, so there is no problem
with students asking about any topic and seeing how the English relates
to the Spanish. Since I was a girl I have had connections with
foreigners, for this reason I understand how each person from different
countries is unique and I care about their needs and how they learn.
Otto René Mendoza Hernández
I
am the co-director of the school and one of the teachers
here. I have 15 years of experience with teaching the Spanish language.
I graduated from University with a Bachelors of Science and Letters in
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I am a martial arts
enthusiast and I am a black belt in Karate and first Dan in Kung Fu.
These days I enjoy going on bike rides in the nearby mountains. I have
a few extra bikes and I welcome students to ride with me. I really
enjoy my work because I cross paths with people of all different
cultures. I like when my students put of their energy into learning; it
gives me my personal satisfaction to see my students trying to speak
Spanish as perfectly as possible. I really like making jokes with my
students in a fun environment. When necessary my classes are formal and
orderly.
Erwin Marin Mazariegos Martines
My name is Erwin Marin Mazariegos Martines. I am from Guatemala and I am 63 years old. I graduated from teaching school and I studied at the public university of Guatemala to obtain my degree in Language and Literature. I worked as a Spanish teacher for several years in Quetzaltenango (Xela) as wells as in Antigua, and Guatemala with the Francisco Marroquin Linguistic Program. Currently I work at Xinabajul Spanish School as a Spanish teacher. Here, I have the opportunity to share with my international students. I enjoy this work for the connection it provides to exchange cultures and experiences. In my classes I speak about Guatemalan culture, folklore, and tourist attractions. I also talk a lot about Guatemalan literature, especially about the writers from my country. The students who have studied with me have told me that they like my work and I can tell that they learn a lot. The majority of my students are at an advanced level.
